On September 10, commission for revealing illegal migrants starts working in Sochi
As reported by the city administration of Sochi, on September 10, a special commission will start searching – by visiting flat by flat – for illegal migrants to be evicted before the Winter Olympic Games.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that violations of migrants' rights were topical in Sochi, which was claimed by human rights activists and members of national Diasporas of the city. In their turn, the authorities claim that there were no violations at the construction sites of the Olympic facilities.
The above commission will reveal both illegally residing foreigners and those who rent housing to them. In its work it will use the lists of residents, compiled by house committees.
The position of the city authorities is straightforward: all who came to take part in the Olympic construction should leave Sochi after the expiry of their employment contracts, said Kirill Kritchenkov, the deputy head of the city police.
