Beslan holds "Day of Silence" within Memory Watch
On September 2, Beslan continued to hold the Memory Watch to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the terror act committed in 2004 and held the so-called "Day of Silence". People came to the city school No. 1 and brought flowers and, on the background of mourning music, lighted candles in memory of the victims. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Let us remind you that on September 1, 2004, a group of terrorists seized 1128 hostages at the school No. 1. Only on September 3, 2004, the special operation to free the hostages was completed. The terror act killed 186 children and 148 adults. At the storming of the school building, 12 agents of secret services and one local resident, who helped to free the hostages, were killed. 810 persons of hostages, staff members of the FSB Special Forces, the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and soldiers of internal troops were wounded.
On September 1, the ceremonies to mark the ninth anniversary of the terror act were started. On that day, people who came to the school also laid flowers and lighted candles at the school gym to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the terror act. On that day, the place of the terror act was attended by more than 2000 persons.
