"Tekhnoprom" CEO arrested in Moscow, suspected of stealing more than 50 million roubles from "Olimpstroy" corporation

The Tver Court of Moscow has granted the motion filed by the investigating authorities to detain in custody Viktor Matveev, General Director of the engineering company "Tekhnoprom". He is suspected of stealing more than 50 million roubles to be allocated to the construction of Olympic facilities.

According to the investigators' information, the state corporation "Olimpstroy" and the engineering company "Tekhnoprom" have signed a contract under which the engineering company was to render services for the total value of 400 million roubles. Besides, under the contract, the engineering company "Tekhnoprom" was to develop a basic scheme of the construction of Olympic facilities. The engineering company was to be paid about 54 million roubles for the above service.

Officials from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) claim that Viktor Matveev submitted false documents on the execution of the works in full, and 53,939,157 roubles were transferred to the account of the engineering company "Tekhnoprom" and then were embezzled by the General Director.

After the criminal case has been instituted against him, the suspect fled from the investigators, and he was put on the federal wanted list. On August 31, the police of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region detained Viktor Matveev while he tried to leave Russia for abroad.
