Conference in Vladikavkaz: Beslan tragedy should be put on Russian school curricula

On September 2, in North Ossetia's capital, on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the terror act in Beslan, the first international conference "Children, Victims of Terror in Recent History" was opened. Participants of the conference spoke for the theme "Beslan Tragedy: Memory and Warning" is to be included in educational programmes in Russia.

The event was organized by the public organization "Russian Jewish Congress" and the "Holocaust" Foundation.

The participants of the conference gathered in the meeting room of the North-Ossetian State University and started working with one minute's silence to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the tragedy in Beslan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The participants of the conference believe that, to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Beslan tragedy and the memory of all people, who died saving the hostages, it is necessary to create in Beslan a Centre for memory of children, victims of terror, and to organize collection and storage of documentary evidence and memoirs of the victims and the witnesses of the tragedy.
