In Krasnodar, investigators send Professor Savva's case to Prosecutor's Office

The investigating authorities have directed the indictment on the criminal case against Professor Mikhail Savva from Kuban State University, the director of grant programmes of the Southern Regional Resource Centre, who is kept in custody since April, for approval to the Prosecutor's Office.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mikhail Savva, who was detained on April 12, was charged with embezzlement of the budget funds, allocated by the administration of the Krasnodar Territory in the form of a grant, and with receiving payment for a fictitious course taught at the university. The professor refuses to plead guilty.

Last week the defence of Mikhail Savva finished studying the materials of the case and filed a motion to stop the professor's criminal prosecution for the absence of objective proofs of his guilt, Marina Dubrovina, Savva's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

No details of the criminal case are disclosed by Mr Savva's advocates, since they have subscribed not to disclose them.
