CEC of North Ossetia refuses to approve results of election of head of Iraf District
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of North Ossetia refuses to approve the results of the election of the head of the Iraf District. The CEC claims that violations took place during the voting. MPs from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party intend to apply to the court to recognize invalid the election held on September 23 by meeting of representatives of the district.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 23, in the village of Chikola, during the first meeting of the Assembly of Representatives of the Iraf District of the eighth convocation, Boris Balikoev, a member of the "Patrioty Rossii" (Patriots of Russia) Party, was elected the head of the municipality "Iraf District".
Olga Markova, Secretary of the CEC of North Ossetia, claims that in the Iraf District, Mr Tegaev, Chairman of the territorial election commission, and the Central Election Commission were not notified about the first organizational meeting. Olga Markov has concluded that all decisions of the meeting cannot be recognized as legitimate.
Valery Bekmurzov, an MP from the "Edinaya Rossiya" Party and the acting head of the Iraf District, has said that members of their party treat the actions of members of the "Patrioty Rossii" Party as unlawful and the decisions on the election of the head of the municipality as invalid and that members of the "Edinaya Rossiya" Party do not intend to put their mandates on table.
It should be noted that following the results of the elections held on September 8, a representative body of the Iraf District of North Ossetia has been formed 25 deputies were elected to the Assembly of Representatives.
Residents of the Iraf District hope that with the new government will pay attention first of all to social and agriculture sectors and solve the problem of unemployment.
