Volgograd Mayor promises hunger-striking parents to address their problems
On September 26, in Volgograd, participants of the hunger strike organized by parents of many children met Irina Guseva, City Mayor, who promised to address their problems. Irina Guseva said that she would find the time to visit each hunger-striker. The Mayor has emphasized that she is interested "not in a single solution, but rather in a complex approach." Let us remind you that on September 23, in Volgograd, 12 parents of many children went on a hunger strike. At present, nine persons participate in the hunger strike. They demand to pay attention to the issue of motherhood and childhood in the Volgograd Region. On September 25, hunger-strikers met government officials at the public reception of Dmitry Medvedev and discussed the issues of education and social protection. The Minister of Education has promised them to solve problems of payment for kindergartens.
"We have already been given a lot of promises; however, nothing has been resolved yet," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Elena Samoshina, one of the participants of the hunger strike. The woman has noted that parents of many children are for the fifth day on the hunger strike.
Irina Guseva has expressed her desire to help the participants to the meeting. She has emphasized that at present, the preparation for the heating season is the main issue for her.
The Mayor has emphasized that in Volgograd, her "male predecessors have left the city with such problems and 6-billion-rouble debt."
