Georgian journalists hold protest against fencing Georgian-South-Ossetian border
Today, in the village of Dvani, about 100 workers of Georgian media held a rally against installation of barbed wire separating the territory of South Ossetia from Georgia. A few days ago protests were held by local residents. Authorities of South Ossetia treat such actions as provocations, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The participants of the today's action have self-organized by means of social networks; they treat the erection of the border facilities by Russian frontier guards as the "creeping occupation", the "Gazeta.ru" reports.
According to the South-Ossetian party, the rally was about 50 persons strong. Alexander Smirnov, the head of the press service of the KGB (Committee for State Security) of South Ossetia has treated the journalists' protest as a provocation and urged not to overestimate the scale and significance of such actions.
An action with similar statements was also held on September 25. On that day, about 15 residents of Dvani came close to the border of South Ossetia and began singing the national anthem of Georgia and swear at the border guards, a source from the frontier service of South Ossetia told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
