Start of trial on "honour killing" in Dagestan postponed till September 30
The repeated consideration by the Kizilyurt District Court of Dagestan of the murder of a woman from the village of Nechaevka, supposedly committed by her uncle, has been rescheduled for Monday, September 30. The reason is in the illness of the defence lawyer, said Salimat Kadyrova, the victim's lawyer.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 22-year-old Maryam Magomedova was killed in August 2010. Her mother blamed Kasum Magomedov, the girl's uncle, of committing the murder. His trial began in November 2012; and on April 2, 2013, he was acquitted. On April 12, the victim's lawyer Salimat Kadyrova appealed against the acquittal.
The date of the hearing of the case, which is considered by Judge Khasaev, was twice postponed because of the absence of the public prosecutor, Ms Kadyrova has added.
