Hostel "Parus" in Rostov-on-Don transferred to municipal ownership

The court in Rostov-on-Don has ruled to transfer the hostel "Parus" into the municipal ownership. By mid-November the rooms in the hostel should be given the status of communal apartments; then the tenants will be able to start the privatization procedure, said Elena Krylova, one of them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the parties in the litigation run by the Arbitration Court of the Rostov Region are the current owner of the "Parus" Yuri Balabanov, its previous owner Andrei Popivnenko and the OJSC "Azov-Don Shipping Company", which had originally owned the hostel. The Regional Prosecutor's Office had demanded to nullify all the previous sale contracts. At the meeting with local officials, hostel tenants supported the proposal to transfer the hostel into the municipal ownership. The court demanded from the parties to de it peacefully.

The ruling of the Arbitration Court of the Rostov Region says that the proceedings were terminated because the Prosecutor's Office of the Rostov Region and the Administration of Rostov-on-Don had waived their claims.

Let us remind you that the situation with the "Parus" hostel had attracted public attention after the incident in the morning on March 26, when unidentified persons broke into the hostel, sprayed tear gas and, as reported by witnesses, beat up several tenants. According to investigators, the responsibility for this crime is on Yuri Balabanov.
