Alisa Ganieva's book about Dagestan has been included in the long list of the "NOS" Literary Award. The short list is to be announced on October 31, and the winner will become known in late January 2014.
The Annual Literary Award "NOS" (abbreviated from Russian "New Literature") was founded by the charitable foundation of Mikhail Prokhorov in 2009. The award long list (preliminary list of candidates for the victory) was announced on September 23. It enlists 25 works of writers from the entire country, including the novel "HolidayMountain" written by Alisa Ganieva.
According to the author's version, the novel includes several story lines. "The surface plot is a hypothetical separation of the Caucasus from Russia, a scenario that is often discussed in various circles of different people, from intellectuals to ordinary citizens. However, in fact, this is not the main story. This is just a technical assumption of what would occur, if there were a wall between the Caucasus and Russia, and what processes would be run on the other side of the wall," said Alisa Ganieva about her book.
The jury is chaired by Konstantin Milchin, a philologist and a literary critic. According to his information, in total, about 200 works from the entire country were sent to the contest.
