The criminal case against Professor Mikhail Savva from Kuban State University, the director of grant programmes of the Southern Regional Resource Centre was sent to the Pervomaisky District Court of Krasnodar. This was reported by the Court.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mikhail Savva was detained on April 12 and he was charged of fraud in embezzlement of budget funds, allocated by the administration of the Krasnodar Territory in the form of a grant, and of receiving payment for fictitious course at the university. The Professor pleads not guilty.
The defence of Mikhail Savva has filed a motion to terminate the criminal proceedings because of the absence of objective evidence of his guilt and constituent elements of offence in general; however, the motion was not granted.
"The Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory has approved the indictment, and the case was sent to the Pervomaisky District Court of Krasnodar for consideration on the merits," the RIA "Novosti" quotes a source at the Court.
