Trial of Anna Politkovskaya's murder case postponed till October 8

Today, the Moscow City Court has rescheduled for October 8 the consideration of the case of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta", because of quarantine at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where defendant Sergey Khadjikurbanov is kept.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the court session of September 25 was postponed because of the quarantine announced in the SIZO, where defendant Sergey Khadjikurbanov is kept. Sergey Khadjikurbanov was not brought to the courtroom.

"The SIZO is still under quarantine, and the date of its end is not specified in the document. Therefore, the trial is postponed till October 8," Judge Pavel Melekhin has said today.

However, he did not mention the infectious disease that caused the introduction of quarantine at the SIZO. It was also not reported whether Sergey Khadjikurbanov himself is sick, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The next court session on the case is scheduled for October 8.
