In Azerbaijan, advocate of detained photo reporter complains about obstacles in communicating with his client
In Azerbaijan, advocate Elchin Sadygov are not allowed to visit Mekhman Guseinov, a blogger and a photo reporter of the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety (IRFS), who was detained in the morning of October 2. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told about that by Elchin Sadygov himself. According to the advocate's report, his client is kept and questioned at the administrative building of the General Prosecutor's Office.
"Despite the fact that I presented a warrant and a power of attorney, a prosecutor, who refused to introduce himself, did not let me to attend the questioning of my client," Elchin Sadygov has said.
However, Elchin Sadygov has found out that Mekhman Guseinov is questioned in connection with the video record posted on the "YouTube" dedicated to the presidential election. The 1.5-minute-long video record shows an abstract from the movie "300". In the video record, one of the characters voices the statement of Djamil Gasanli, a presidential candidate of the opposition National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF): "The government of Ilham Aliev is indulged in corruption to its knees, and Ilham Aliev himself is indulged in corruption to his neck ... Ilham Aliev should resign!". And the other characters of the video record voice: "Resign!"
Meanwhile, the advocate does not have the information if the video record had been posted by Mekhman Guseinov himself. The advocate only knows that the activist has shared a link on social networks.
