Azerbaijan: photo reporter Mekhman Guseinov released after questioning at GPO

After a six-hour-long interrogation at the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Azerbaijan, Mekhman Guseinov, photo reporter at the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety (IRFS) and a blogger, has been released, said the lawyer Gyunay Ismailova.

Mekhman Guseinov said that in the morning he was detained by unidentified persons.

"At first they took me to the metropolitan police. But then, after someone's telephone call, the route was changed; and I was taken to the GPO. There, I was questioned about the video clip '300 Spartans' that has to do with the presidential election and was posted by me on the YouTube," Mekhman Guseinov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"I was told that the video contains Jamil Gasanli's call to change the power. They told me about the inadmissibility of spreading such appeals," said Mekhman Guseinov.

The blogger has treated his summon to the GPO as "pressure on creative activities in social networks." The interrogation was oral in nature; and a written warning was issued, said Mekhman Guseinov.
