Sochi court extends Yarst's home arrest by other two months

The Tsentralny District Court of Sochi has satisfied the investigators' motion and extended the home arrest of the journalist Nikolai Yarst until December 3.

The Federal Judge Nikolai Vaschenko has dismissed all the motions of the defence and Mr Yarst's himself asking to change his home arrest for recognizance not to leave.

The defence argued that Nikolai Yarst suffers from toothache for a few months and needs help of a professional dentist. His home arrest is extended for the third time already. And for the third time the journalist's advocates are informed about the intended consideration of their petitions only on the preceding evening, said Alexander Popkov, one of the journalist's advocates.

"I was called last night... the two other Yarst's advocates were not able to appear, since they are busy in other cities. Our request to postpone the trial for a reasonable period of time was rejected," Alexander Popkov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He also noted that it is not clear what the investigators had been doing for six months, and what they would be doing for two months more. "We have an impression that everything is done to extend his stay under home arrest," said the lawyer.
