Volgograd: hunger-striking parents demand solving problems of all of them
The parents of large families are on their 12th day of the hunger strike that they hold in the premises of the former Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF). One of the women has quitted the action after meeting the Governor Bozhenov; however, the remaining protesters claim that they will stop the action only when the regional authorities meet all of them.
Let us remind you that 12 parents of many children from Volgograd went on hunger strike on September 23, demanding to address the problems of motherhood and childhood existing in the Volgograd Region. On October 3, four of them had a meeting with Sergey Bozhenov, the Governor of the Volgograd Region.
"Yesterday, the authorities listened to some of us, but not to everyone. We'll go on hunger-striking until the problems of all of us are addressed. As to my problem, the authorities have promised to help; and on October 13 they will hold a meeting of ministers and bankers in the administration of the region," Elena Samoshina told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
She said that the problem of Marina Chernova, a mother of five children, has been addressed: she had been promised housing and quitted the hunger strike.
