Mukomolov: list of disappearances in Northern Caucasus has 7570 names
Currently, the North-Caucasian list of missing persons has 7570 names. The data on 4050 of them has been collected, said Alexander Mukomolov, a member of the Human Rights Commission and the chairman of the General Lebed Peacemaking Mission in the course of the roundtable held in Pyatigorsk.
According to his story, the problem of missing persons remains topical for the whole of Russia. As of 2006, the country counted about 120,000 missing people. This figure goes up by 25-30,000 every year.
At the roundtable, Mukomolov also proposed to set up in Northern Caucasus a coordination centre for searching and identifying missing persons. According to his version, this will help to unite the efforts of all the involved agencies, the "Interfax" quotes Mukomolov as saying.
"We need a unified governmental document, obliging all the ministries and agencies to work to the same standard. Only in this case this initial work will bring fruit in the future," said Mukomolov.
