Koba Djabua: Yusup Lakaev recovers from wound got in Batumi

Yusup Lakaev, a native of Chechnya, has recovered from wound got in a fire fight in Batumi, and he intends to ask for political asylum in Georgia. This was reported by advocate Koba Djabua.

Let us remind you that on September 19, it was reported that Yusup Lakaev, a native of Chechnya, who was detained on September 13 in Batumi after a fire fight with Georgian policemen, is suspected of the murder of Russian diplomat Dmitry Vishernev, committed in Sukhumi on September 9.

According to the information of the General Prosecutor's Office of Abkhazia, the molecular-genetic examination has confirmed Yusup Lakaev's involvement in the murder of Dmitry Vishernev.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Koba Djabua, the advocate of Yusup Lakaev, that in the nearest future, his client intends to ask for political asylum in Georgia.

The advocate has noted that Yusup Lakaev has already recovered from the wound got in the fire fight with the policemen in Batumi.

Earlier, Vladimir Markin, Spokesman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), said that Russia intends to ask Georgia to extradite Yusup Lakaev. However, according to the information of the Georgian Prosecutor's Office, no request for extradition has been received from the Russian side yet.
