Volgograd: parents stop their hunger strike

In Volgograd, parents with many children have decided to stop their hunger strike, Nikolai Shamaev, one of the protesters, has reported.

Let us remind you that 12 parents of many children from Volgograd went on a hunger strike on September 23, demanding from the authorities to pay attention to the problems of motherhood and childhood in the Volgograd Region.

On October 4, Nadezhda Kireeva, one of the hunger-strikers, was hospitalized with a heart attack, Mr Shamaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, on the same day the hunger-strikers were visited by the Acting Governor of the Volgograd Region Roland Kherianov.

"After Nadezhda was hospitalized, we were urgently invited to Kherianov. He spoke to everyone who had not yet had contacts with the authorities. He promised to prepare a bill prescribing to pay all the mortgage premiums for 10 years to large families of the Region from the budget. We also raised the issue of holding weekly roundtables on our problems with participation of ministers. If the promises are not carried out, we'll have to address for help to Moscow," said Nikolai Shamaev.
