Said Amirov asks Russian President to take his case under personal control
The Mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov, who is held in custody in Moscow, has asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to take his case under personal control.
Let us remind you that Said Amirov was detained on June 1 by law enforcement authorities on suspicion of involvement in a number of grave crimes. On June 2, he was convoyed to Moscow. In September, it was reported that a criminal case on suspicion of terrorist activity was opened against the Mayor. The Basmanny Court of Moscow has ruled to suspend Amirov from office pending the inquiry.
Said Amirov refuses to testify and rejects the charge of plotting a terror act; he treats his case as politically motivated, says his advocate Mark Kruter.
According to Said Amirov, he is ready to answer on each point of indictment and render assistance to investigators.
"I'd like to ask Vladimir Putin to take my case under his personal control, and not to trust the slander spread about me," the edition named "Slon" quoted Said Amirov on October 4.
