500 flats in Kirov District of Volgograd have no power and heat for 5 days already
Power engineers explain the outages in 500 flats of two apartment buildings in Volgograd by an accident caused by excessive loads on worn-out power grids. Repairs are underway, but the situation has not been remedied yet.
Since October 2, electricity is supplied intermittently to Nos. 71 and 73 in 64th Army Street in Volgograd. At night on October 3 a low-voltage power was supplied, at noon there was no power, and in the evening low-voltage power was registered again, Valentina Poltavchenko, a resident of No, 71, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to her story, she is going to complain to the prosecutor's office and address the Mayoralty asking to replace the worn-out electrical grid feeding their houses.
Victor Chesnokov, the Chief Engineer of the MRSK "Yuga", told that the problem was the worn-out cable that supplies the above houses.
The specialists of the MRSK, who are eliminating the accident, have added that the load on the cable is very high, because of the fact that during the last 8 days the air temperature in Volgograd does not rise above plus 8 degrees Centigrade; and tenants are warming up their flats with various electrical appliances.
At the same time, the Department of Information of the Volgograd Administration reports that the system of central heating is being switched on in Volgograd from October 1. So far, 367 social facilities have been connected to the system – or 55.4% of the total.
