Rural teacher from Dagestan Akhberdilo Akhberdilov is among five best Russian teachers
Akhberdilo Akhberdilov, a teacher of history from the Tidib Secondary School of the Shamil District of Dagestan, is one among the five finalists of the contest "Russia's Teacher of the Year".
The contest is held annually since 1992. In 2013, its final stage included 79 teachers – the winners of regional contests held in 79 subjects of the Russian Federation, said the Ministry of Education of Dagestan.
By the results of the first two rounds, which included an open lesson with pupils and an impromptu "parents' meeting", where teachers discusses some specific educational situation with parents, five finalists were selected; and Akhberdilo Akhberdilov among them.
These finalists met at the roundtable with the head of the Ministry of Education of Russia; and then, on October 3, the jury, headed by Victor Sadovnichy the Rector of the Moscow State University, chose the overall winner – Andrei Sidenko, 29, a teacher of informatics from Mytischi.
According to Akhberdilov, his success at the contest was a surprise for him.
"I am, of course, very happy, since it's the fruit of my 20 years of work. Contests are held and end; and life goes on as usual; therefore, I'm already back at my school and continue doing what I like," Akhberdilo Akhberdilov has commented on his success to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
