Participants of rally in Vladikavkaz demand higher wages

Today, the trade unions of North Ossetia have held a rally in Vladikavkaz demanding higher wages.

On Monday, a number of cities of Southern of Russia, including Rostov, Krasnodar, Astrakhan, Elista, Volgograd and Maikop, held rallies and pickets within the All-Russian Trade Union Action "For Decent Work".

The rally was attended by about 150 people – unionists from various branches: culture, education, public health, metallurgy, trade, services and governmental agencies.

After a brief rally, the participants adopted a resolution, demanding from state authorities at all levels and employers of the republic to stop the trend of job losses, and create high-paying, high-tech jobs for young professionals.

They also demanded to set up in Russia by 2016 the floor salary not below the minimum subsistence level, and to stop the growth of prices and tariffs for housing and communal services and power resources.

The resolution will be directed to the republic's state bodies and the employers' association.
