21 persons suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus during the week from September 30 to October 6
The list of victims of the above week includes at least 21 people, of whom 15 persons were killed and six others were wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The death toll includes five power agents from Dagestan, seven suspected members of the armed underground – four in Dagestan and three in Kabardino-Balkaria, and three civilians – all in Dagestan.
Attacks on law enforcers
On October 1, near Khasavyurt, in the second kilometre of the highway Khasavyurt-Germenchuk, near the cafe "Mirage", unidentified masked men opened fire at a policeman who died of his wounds on the spot. After the shooting, the attackers fled in a VAZ-2109 car, which was later found at the road turn in the direction of the village of Batashyurt.
On October 2, in the village of Chontaul, the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, a fire was opened at a police senior sergeant, a dog handler from the Kizilyurt ROVD (District Interior Division), who was in his own car VAZ-2107 on the way to his work. He died as a result of the shelling.
Special operations and CTOs
In the evening on September 29, a group of armed men was blocked in a private house in Tambiev Street in the village of Dugulubgey, the Baksan district of Kabardino-Balkaria. A proposal to surrender addressed to them was responded by fire; and a shootout began, as a result of which two suspected militants were killed, another one was wounded, but managed to escape. Nobody suffered among power agents. The casualties were identified as Timur Khamgokov, 25, and Batyrbek Duduev, 22.
On October 1 and 2, in the forest between the villages of Verkhnie and Nizhnie Ubeki, the Levashin District of Dagestan, an armed clash burst out, resulting in three killed policemen and three lost local residents; three other policemen were wounded. The killed locals were people's guards. Four suspected militants were also killed in the course of a special operation.
Bombings and terror acts
At night on September 30, the restaurant "Golden Empire" in Makhachkala was visited by unidentified men who made several shots at the ceiling, threw some suspicious package and fled. The package turned out to be a self-made bomb, which was defused by explosive experts of the FSB Department for Dagestan with the help of a robotic arm. Residents of nearby houses were evacuated. The power of the bomb was 12 kilograms of TNT (trotyl) equivalent.
Detentions
On September 29, a resident of the village of Mutsalaul, the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, born in 1981, was brought to the police station. According to law enforcers, he was a member – in May-September 2013 – of an illegal armed formation (IAF).
On October 2, in a utility premise in the back yard of a house in Gornaya Street of the rural settlement of Surkhakhi, the Nazran District of Ingushetia, self-explosion of grenade launcher cartridge took place. Nobody was hurt; the owner of the household was taken to the Nazran ROVD as a suspect of illegal arms circulation.
