Observers from European Parliament, OSCE, CIS and PACE come to Azerbaijani presidential election
The presidential election in Azerbaijan will be monitored by the delegation of the European Parliament of seven members, along with more than 300 observers of the ODIHR/OSCE, over 300 observers from the CIS and 32 observers from the PACE.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the voting is scheduled for October 9. In total 21 candidates had been nominated; of whom 10 were registered.
According to the report of the EU representative office in Azerbaijan, the aim of the mission of the European Parliament is to assess the election process for compliance with the country's international obligations and the national legislation.
On October 9, the European parliamentarians will observe the voting process in Baku and regions. They will visit polling stations and observe the voting and vote tabulation. On October 10, the delegation will present its position in a primary joint statement with the ODIHR/OSCE observatory mission.
The PACE delegation is composed of 32 members, headed by British parliamentarian Robert Walter.
