Azerbaijani rights defenders hold protest in Chisinau
The participants from Azerbaijan at the Civil Society Forum of the member-states of the EU programme "Eastern Partnership", which was held on October 4-7 in Chisinau, organized a rally in defence of the rights of political prisoners kept in Azerbaijani prisons. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Gubad Ibadoglu, one of the organizers of the action and the Chairman of the Centre for Economic Studies.
Mr Ibadoglu has noted that political prisoners are characteristic mainly for Belarus and Azerbaijan. In general, according to his story, the Azerbaijani delegation worked actively at the forum: out of 11 adopted resolutions, three had to do with the "Azerbaijani reality".
Mirvari Gakhramanly, the head of the association in defence of the rights of fuel industry workers, took an active part in the Chisinau action. According to her version, out of 26 Azerbaijani NGOs, represented in Chisinau, 15 took part in the protest by delegating there one activist each.
"I find a success of the national delegation in the adoption of resolutions on the problems of civil society in Azerbaijan, political arrests and strained pre-election situation in the country on the eve of the presidential election on October 9," she added.
Let us note here that the forum in Chisinau is held once a year with participation of high-ranking EU officials and government members of European countries.
