Members of opposition parties of Azerbaijan state widespread violations at presidential election
The presidential election takes place in the environment of massive violations of the law, the oppositional parties of Azerbaijan assert. In his turn, Mazakhir Panakhov, the CEC chairman, has stated minor violations during the vote, which cannot affect the outcome of the election.
"According to the information received, there are numerous 'carousels' (multiple voting at different locations of same groups of individuals)," Sardar Jalaloglu, also a presidential candidate and the leader of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to Ali Karimli, another member of the NCDF and the leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan ( PFPA), "the unification of the opposition and the successful campaign of the united candidate from the NCDF Jamil Gasanli have encouraged citizens to go and vote." "However, the authorities once again went the way of falsifications," he added. Kerimli said that most typical violations were "massive ballot throw-in, carousels and interference of executive structures."
Meanwhile, Anar Mamedli, the head of the Centre for Monitoring Elections and Democracy Training (CMEDT), said about serious violations during the election. "We have prepared 794 observers for the monitoring; however, 19 of them were not allowed to monitor," said Mamedli.
In their turn, the observers from the CIS claim that the presidential election in Azerbaijan has fixed only minor violations. Barbara Miller, an American observer and a member of the OSCE observation mission, has also stated that the election was held at a high level.
