Djamil Gasanli: opposition in Azerbaijan to continue fighting by legal means
The National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) intends to seek cancelation of the results of the presidential election held on October 9 and appointment of new presidential election in Azerbaijan. This was stated by leaders of political parties and movements, members of the NCDF, at the rally held on October 12. They did not recognize the official results of the voting, and they believe Professor Djamil Gasanli, a candidate from the NCDF, won the election.
"Running for a third term, Ilham Aliev crossed the 'red line'. The statement of the observation missions of the ODIHR/OSCE about poor or very poor counting of votes at 58% of electoral precincts means that not only the people of Azerbaijan, but also the world does not recognize the legitimacy of the election," said Isa Gambar, the leader of the "Musavat" Party, at the recent meeting.
Mirmakhmud Miralioglu, the leader of the "Party Classic Popular Front of Azerbaijan" (PCPFA), has noted that the victory of Djamil Gasanli is "of no doubt, and it is recorded by numerous independent observers."
Djamil Gasanli himself has said that he will continue fighting "by legal means against the usurpation of power and for the return of stolen votes to the people."
