Court session in case on Anna Politkovskaya's murder postponed again

Today, the Moscow City Court once again has postponed the consideration of the case of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the "Novaya Gazeta", in connection with the extension of quarantine at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where Sergey Khadjikurbanov, one of the defendants, is kept.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the court sessions on the case have been postponed three times already on October 8, October 1 and September 25 because of the quarantine at the SIZO.

Today, Sergey Khadjikurbanov was not present at the courtroom.

The trial is scheduled for October 17.

Let us remind you that Anna Politkovskaya, who wrote about Chechnya and Northern Caucasus, was killed on October 7, 2006. At present, the prisoners' dock contains five persons: Lom-Ali Gaitukaev, a Chechen businessman, whom investigators believe to be an organizer of the crime, his nephew Djabrail, Ibragim and Rustam Makhmudov, and Sergey Khadjikurbanov, a former militiaman. The defendants do not admit their guilt.
