NAC: more than 98% of terrorist crimes committed in NCFD
More than 98% of all the terrorist crimes committed in Russia are committed in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). Meanwhile, most of such crimes are committed in Dagestan. This was reported today by Yevgeny Ilyin, First Deputy Chief of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).
"Just look at international organizations such as the 'Al-Qaeda', the 'Imarat Kavkaz', and the 'Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami' that aim to intensify terrorist activities in the territory of our country," the ITAR-TASS quotes Yevgeny Ilyin as saying during the conference "Role of media and Internet in prevention of terrorism".
Meanwhile, Yevgeny Ilyin has noted the significant role of the Internet in spreading extremist and terrorist ideas. The official has quoted data from foreign sources, according to which, at present, the Internet has up to 10,000 extremist websites.
Let us remind you that according to the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources, in the second quarter of 2013, in the Republic of Dagestan, at least 207 persons fell victims to the armed confrontation. Of them, 86 persons were killed, and 121 were wounded.
