Kizilyurt resident detained while trying to fly off to study in Egypt

At the airport of Makhachkala, a resident of Kizilyurt, who intended to fly to Egypt to study at the Islamic University, was detained on suspicion of illegal possession of drugs. Relatives of the young man claim the drugs were planted to him.

Mukhtar Zhabuev, a Kizilyurt resident, born in 1987, was detained on October 13.

"We became aware of the detention of the story of Akhmed, a Mukhtar's friend. The young men intended to fly to study in Egypt on October 13; however, they were detained at the airport prior to boarding the flight. Later, Akhmed was released, and Mukhtar is still kept at the police station. According to the Akhmed's story, drugs had been planted to my relative during the detention." On October 14, this was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a relative of the detainee, who introduced himself as Djabul.

"Mukhtar had never taken drugs, and he is religious. He also was not registered at the police station earlier," Djabul has said. He has suggested that the incident may be related to the recent statement made by Ramazan Abdulatipov, the leader of Dagestan, who instructed his subordinates to return students enrolled in Islamic higher education institutions to their homeland.
