Picket against court's recognition of Koran translation by Elmir Kuliev as extremist held in Ingushetia
In Ingushetia, in the rural community of Barsuki, near the federal highway "Kavkaz", an unsanctioned picket was held to protest against the court decision to recognize the semantic translation of Koran made by Elmir Kuliev as extremist. The protest action was attended by about fifty persons.
Let us remind you that on September 17, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Novorossiysk granted the claim filed by the Novorossiysk Transport Prosecutor's Office and recognized as extremist the book "Semantic translation of the holy Quran in Russian Language" written by Elmir Kuliev, a well-known Azerbaijani religious philosopher.
The picket in the village of Barsuki was held on October 14. Participants of the protest action have expressed their indignation by the fact that original Koran in Arabic will also be included in the list together with the banned translation.
"The actions of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Novorossiysk contradict the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of conscience and religion, and resemble a witch-hunt that took place during the Inquisition period," said Fatima, a participant of the protest action.
The protest action was held without incidents.
