Muslims of North-Caucasian regions celebrate Eid al-Adha
On October 15, Muslims residing in regions, included in the Southern and the North-Caucasian Federal Districts, celebrated the Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram). The mosques served festive sermons and prayers, poor people received help, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondents report.
Eid al-Adha is to be celebrated in 70 days after the holiday of Eid al-Fitr and marks the end of hajj.
Let us remind you that in Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, Dagestan, Chechnya, Adygeia and Karachay-Cherkessia, October 15 was declared a day off.
During the holidays, Muslims sacrifice great and small cattle and distribute meat to people in need.
It should be noted that the sacrifice of animals is found with displeasure by residents of major cities and regions where there are no large numbers of Muslims.
On the eve of the holiday, social networks began to post nationalists' appeals to hold people's gathering in Moscow against celebration of Eid al-Adha by Muslims. Organizers of the rally "Our Response to Eid al-Adha" planned to meet at the "Prazhskaya" metro station to march from there to Biryulyovo, where on October 10, a resonant murder of Yegor Scherbakov was committed, presumably, by a native of Azerbaijan. An attempt to hold a protest action ended with the detention of its participants.
