Police shut down women's madrasa in Dagestan
In the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, the police have closed the women's madrasa, explaining that the institution had no license for educational activities.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Abdurakhim Magomedov, the director of the madrasa in Novosasitli, that the above women's madrasa was closed on October 10.
"In the morning, policemen and militaries came their and began making photos and fingerprint the schoolgirls, writing down data about their parents. Of course, it's illegal; one thing if they were adults, but questioning girls of 13-14 is simply unacceptable. Officially, we were told that the reason for the closure was in the absence of a license," said the director.
According to his story, he tried to explain that all the documents on the madrasa were in order; just women were trained separately from men. "I was told: once they are in the other building, there should be separate documents. But in fact, the reason is different; and I was told about it orally, when I was summoned to 'Division Six' – they don't want militants' spouses, widows and children to quietly study at the madrasa."
According to Magomedov, the women's madrasa had over 100 pupils from Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Stavropol and Rostov Regions. "They wanted to close us immediately, but I asked for at least three days for the parents from other regions to take away their girls. The last of them left on October 14," said the director of the madrasa.
