In Moscow, trial in case of Anna Politkovskaya's murder postponed for the fifth time
The Moscow City Court has again postponed the consideration of the case of the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya because of prolongation of the quarantine at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where defendant Sergey Khadjikurbanov is kept.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the court sessions were postponed because of the quarantine at the SIZO on September 25, October 1, October 8, and October 14.
The court has received a certificate from the SIZO. The certificate states that the quarantine is to be terminated on October 31.
Meanwhile, the Moscow City Court has postponed the court session till October 22, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Let us remind you that ex-militiaman Sergey Khadjikurbanov is one of the five defendants accused of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, who wrote about Chechnya and Northern Caucasus. The murder was committed on October 7, 2006. Investigators believe Lom-Ali Gaitukaev, a businessman from Chechnya, was the organizer of the murder. The prisoners' dock also contains his three nephews: Djabrail, Ibragim and Rustam Makhmudov. The defendants did not admit their guilt.
