KBR: rape victim complains about protraction of inquiry
The investigation into the rape of a minor girl in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) is deliberately protracted, the victim and her family assert. In their turn, investigators assert that the inquiry is protracted for objective reasons, as it is impossible to make all the necessary genetic assays quickly.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 30, a 17-year-old girl from the rural settlement of Dalneye was raped by several men. Four suspects were detained, one minor among them; others were 18-19 years old at the time of detention. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), they gave confessions.
According to the victim, who is now 18, the inquiry goes extremely slow, partly because appointment of plenty of examinations.
"They take me through examinations for half a year already," the girl told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "They haven't found the fifth rapist yet. According to investigators, his accomplices refuse to disclose his name."
According to the girl, the investigator told her that the inquiry would last for at least 18 months. "I have an impression that he is doing it deliberately," said the victim.
