Natives of Northern Caucasus, suspected of preparing terror act in Kirov Region, arrested for two months
Two natives of Northern Caucasus, detained on suspicion of preparing a terror act at the plant for destruction of chemical weapons, were arrested by the decision of the Orichi District Court of the Kirov Region for two months. This was reported by the Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 14, in one of the forsaken houses of the town of Kotelnich, law enforcers found a hide of components for manufacture of improvised explosive device (IED). According to the investigators, criminals planned to use an IED to commit a terror act at the chemical weapons destruction facility "Maradykovsky".
The exact origin of the arrested natives of Northern Caucasus was not reported. Meanwhile, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by its own source that the detainees are natives of Dagestan. "The number of figurants involved in this case is not limited to two reported persons," the source has reported.
"At the Maradykovsky plant to destroy chemical weapons, it was impossible to go unnoticed even within the sanitary protection zone," believes Professor Tamara Ashikhmina, Doctor of Technical Sciences, the head of research centre for chemical weapons.
The facility itself is preparing to complete the destruction of toxic substances: from 7000 tons of toxic substances available at the facility, there is less than 0.5 tons to be destructed.
According to Tamara Ashikhmina, since 2006 since the launch of the plant no emergencies occurred.
