Olympic torch explodes in hands of 13-year-old relay participant
The Olympic torch has exploded in the hands of a schoolgirl at the stage of the relay in Kostroma. The schoolgirl got superficial burn to her hand and was able to complete the relay stage.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 7, the torch relay of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Winter Games was launched in Moscow and hit the road for all 83 subjects of the Russian Federation. Let us remind you that the Olympic torch went out several times during the torch relay in the territory of the Russian Federation. During the very first stage of the Olympic torch relay, which was held on October 6 around the Moscow Kremlin, the torch went out for the first time in the hands of Shavarsh Karapetyan, 17-time world champion in diving, a native of Armenia.
On October 18, another incident took place at the stage of the Olympic torch relay held in Kostroma. During transmission of the torch to the 13-year-old schoolgirl, one of the main symbols of the Sochi Winter Games has exploded in her hands, the agency "Tver-Review" reports.
As a result of the incident, the schoolgirl sought medical help. Medical assistance was rendered her in place, and after that the girl still managed to run her stage.
It should be added that the All-Russian National Front called the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) to check the expenditure of funds for the manufacture of the torches and the reasons for their failure.
