Experts treat explosion in Volgograd as terrorist threat to Olympics
According to a number of Russian experts, the explosion in Volgograd jeopardizes the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Winter Games. In turn, the West fears of possible terror acts of extremists aimed at guests and participants of the Olympic Games. This was reported by the British newspaper "The Telegraph".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the afternoon of October 21, in Volgograd, the explosion occurred in the bus in the Krasnoarmeisky District of the city. According to law enforcers' information, the terror act was committed by Naida Asiyalova, a 30-year-old native of Dagestan. The explosion killed seven persons, including the suspected suicide bomber.
"At present, terrorism is not only and not so much a form of struggle of political and religious views. It is a form of unfair competition in the economy. Therefore, the cheapest way to discredit the Sochi 2014 Olympics is to finance terrorists," the "RBC" quotes Alexei Filatov, a retired FSB Colonel, Vice-President of the International Association of Veterans of Anti-Terror Division "Alpha".
The Western media also associates the explosion in Volgograd with the eve of the Olympic Games. The newspaper "The Telegraph" notes that investigators are likely to focus their search among Islamist rebels operating in Northern Caucasus.
"Caucasian black widows, 'female shahids', female suicide bombers come back. This does not bode well for the Sochi Olympics, which the leader of Chechen terrorists is eager to fill with blood," the "Inopressa" quotes the Italian newspaper "Corriere della Sera".
Let us remind you that in July 2013, Doku Umarov, the leader of the "Imarat Kavkaz" called on militants to use all possible methods to disrupt the Olympics in Sochi.
