Makhachkala residents claim being ill-treated during searches of their houses
In the Kirov District of Makhachkala, law enforcers continue carrying out searches under the counterterrorism operation (CTO). Some residents claim being ill-treated by the law enforcers. This was reported by Gulnara Rustamova from the NGO "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy).
Let us remind you that, starting from October 21, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime is introduced in the Kirov District of Makhachkala. In the village of Semender, the law enforcers have blocked the streets and roads and carry out targeted checks. This was reported by local residents.
"Today, we received calls from six local residents. Someone said that the searches were carried out in a correct manner and law enforcers behaved with courtesy to hosts. And someone told us that, to the contrary, law enforcers were acting very roughly they broke into house and overturned everything upside down," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Gulnara Rustamova.
According to her, human rights defenders have no information whether any residents of the Kirov District were detained during searches.
Searches are mainly carried out in the houses of religious people, mostly Salafis. This was reported by Aminat Rasulova, a resident of the village of Semender of the Kirov District of Makhachkala.
"A lot of religious people live in Semender; however, some of them are Salafis and some Sufis. For certain, the special operation is related to the fact that recently, a clash between followers of these two trends occurred in the village mosque. However, as always, Salafis suffer. They are always treated with bias if you are a Salafi, you are a potential threat," the woman has said.
In turn, a source in the Makhachkala GOVD (City Interior Division) has stated that law enforcers are searching for militants of the Makhachkala criminal grouping.
