Baku Mayoralty sanctions rally of Azerbaijani opposition on October 27
The executive power of Baku has coordinated the rally appointed by the oppositional National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) for October 27, where the activists want to demand cancellation of the outcome of the October 9 presidential election and appointment of a new presidential election. Organizers plan to attract 10,000 people.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the NCDF had planned to hold a rally on October 20; however, the Mayoralty refused to sanction it, explaining that the organizers' notification had not reached the Mayoralty. In this regard, on October 18, the NCDF sent a repeated application for October 27.
"The rally will be held under the demand to cancel the October 9 rigged presidential election. The complaints lodged by Jamil Gasanli, the candidate from the NCDF, on total falsification of the election results were not satisfied by the CEC, the Baku Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of the country, while the Constitutional Court, without waiting for the final decision of the Supreme Court, has approved the election result," Tural Abbasly, a member of the Committee on Rallies of the NCDF, said in his interview with the "Caucasian Knot".
Earlier, the US State Department and observers from the OSCE stated the non-compliance of the election campaign with international standards; while the PACE and the European Parliament have treated the presidential election in Azerbaijan as free, fair and transparent.
