Ministry of Transport: during Sochi Olympics traffic of cars and buses will be restricted
In Sochi, starting from February 7 till March 24, 2014, during the Winter Olympic Games, traffic of private vehicles and buses will be limited. This was announced by Nikolai Asaul, Deputy Transport Minister of the Russian Federation, at the press conference held in Moscow.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that during the Sochi Olympic Games, the decree of the Russian President introduces restrictions on access of vehicles to the city. The decree also stipulates creation of controlled areas. To get there, one should be examined by the police, and the access to restricted areas will be possible only for persons with special permissions.
According to Nikolai Asaul, Deputy Transport Minister, all traffic restrictions in the Olympic Sochi are associated with the need to relieve the city streets.
The official from the Ministry of Transport has advised Sochi residents and visitors to use public transport rather than private vehicles during the Olympic Games. According to the Deputy Transport Minister, the restrictions will not affect rail and air transport.
Let us remind you that in early September, the Ministry of Transport prepared a draft of "Olympic" amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences. Document introduces special penalties for violation of traffic rules committed in the period of the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
