Krasnodar leads in Russian quality-of-life "Integral City Ranking"
Krasnodar is at the top of the 100 largest cities in Russia for the quality of life in accordance with the study "Integral City Ranking", conducted by the Institute of Territorial Planning "Urbanika".
The assessment of the cities considered such factors as provision of housing and opportunity to purchase it, situation with transport, crime rate, expenses for housing and utilities infrastructure, and purchasing power.
"Krasnodar became the leader not accidentally. Favourable climate and nature are complemented by such advantages as low crime rate, high level of income and consumer spending, sufficient provision of housing, and good situation with transport," the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" quotes the authors of the research project.
As for the two Russian capitals, then, Moscow and Saint Petersburg have occupied in the list only the 48th and the 19th places, respectively. The authors of the ranking believe that "multi-million cities", "overloaded" with people, cannot cope with the difficult ecological and transport situation, and the high cost of goods significantly reduces the purchasing power of city residents.
Meanwhile, residents of Krasnodar have repeatedly appealed to the city authorities demanding to solve their problems. For example, young mothers claimed shortage in the number of kindergartens in the city. Residents of Krasnodar have also protested against the construction of green space in the coastal part of Krasnodar.
