Public polling: three leaders of presidential race in Georgia are the same
The favourites of the presidential election in Georgia are Georgy Margvelashvili, David Bakradze, and Nino Burjanadze. This was shown by public questioning of the country's population. The same fact is also evidenced by a mini-survey carried out by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent in the streets of Tbilisi. Political analysts call the current election situation in Georgia "uneven" and do not rule out the second round of voting.
Let us remind you that the voting at the election of the President of Georgia is scheduled for October 27. 23 candidates will run for presidency.
When describing the pre-election situation in the country, the Georgian political analysts point to the uneven struggle of candidates and the uniqueness of the present balance of forces.
For example, Soso, the rector of the Georgian Academy of Diplomacy of Georgia, does not rule out that the first round of voting will fail to name the President of Georgia and that the second round is likely to take place.
Professor Zurab Marshaniya, Doctor of Political Sciences, the former head of the Georgian diplomatic missions in the Baltic States, believes that the upcoming election will be unique in the history of Georgia because of "high expectations", since the election is "the first truly competitive presidential election in our country." The Professor has also pointed out that it is equally important, who will take second place.
Political analyst Gela Vasadze, the leader of the NGO "Free Zone", a more participant of the roundtable, has also mentioned the strangeness of the situation in Georgia. He does not rule out preparations of falsifications at the election in Georgia.
Meanwhile, Gela Vasadze believes that the election of the leader of the state of Georgia is a definite chance for the development of democracy in terms of holding fair election, since the powers of the next president will be significantly limited.
