Baku: organizers of oppositional protests warned about liability for violating public order
The law enforcement bodies of Baku have warned the organizers of the Azerbaijani opposition protests about the inadmissibility of illegal actions during the rally scheduled for October 27.
Let us remind you that the Baku Executive Authority had sanctioned the rally, scheduled by the oppositional National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) for October 27 with a demand to cancel the outcome of the presidential election, held on October 9, and to appoint the new presidential election.
On October 25, Sakhlab Bagirov, the head of the Chief Department of Baku Police, recommended that Rasim Amiraslanov and Anar Aliev, the organizers of the rally, strictly follow "the prevention of announcing the slogans calling for discrimination, hatred and violence, inciting national, racial or religious hatred, and slogans of insulting nature." Bagirov warned that in case of violations of the public order, unlawful acts will be stopped.
In his turn, Amiraslanov, a member of the rally committee, said that the NCDF stands for peaceful and legal methods of struggle, and is not interested in provocations.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 12 a rally was held in Baku, organized by the electoral staff of Jamil Gasanli. The action passed without incident. However, after the rally, there was a confrontation of policemen and young participants of the rally; and about 10 people were detained.
