Power agents search township Novy New Kyakhulay in Makhachkala

The territory of the township Novy Kyakhulay, Lenin District of Makhachkala, is under special actions of law enforcers, local residents assert. Officially, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan has not confirmed the introduction of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime in the townships, but according to a source from the local law enforcement bodies, searches and identity checks are conducted in the township for the second day already.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Aisha Selimkhanova, an employee of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy), several residents of Novy Kyakhulay telephoned to her organization on Saturday, saying that their houses are checked and searched.

The activist has added that so far it is not clear who is searched and what the reason of the checks is.

According to an own source of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent in the local MIA, Novy Kyakhulay is under a special operation for the second day: "Law enforcers are searching for members of the 'Makhachkala' grouping and their accomplices; and check their operative data," said the source.

Let us remind you that that the Kirov District of Makhachkala is under the CTO regime since October 21. Some residents of Makhachkala complain of rude treatment during searches of their houses.
