Chechen Parliament seeks to deprive Vladimir Zhirinovsky of his Duma mandate for his statements about residents of Northern Caucasus
Deputies of the Chechen Parliament have decided to send to the federal authorities the appeals to seek to assess the statements made by Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), who on October 24 called to separate Northern Caucasus from Russia and to limit the birth rate there.
Let us remind you that Vladimir Zhirinovsky made his scandalous statements on the air the TV show "Duel", which was dedicated to the terror act committed in Volgograd on October 21.
At the extraordinary meeting, Chechen MPs have decided to appeal to the State Duma of Russia, to the heads of the General Prosecutor's Office, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in connection with the statements made by Vladimir Zhirinovsky, that, in their opinion, are xenophobic.
"MPs of the Parliament of Chechen Republic believe that such statements are directed to collapse Russia and require legal assessment. The Chechen Parliament will seek to deprive Mr Zhirinovsky of his deputy mandate and institute criminal proceedings against him," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by a staff member of the administration of the Parliament of the Chechen Republic.
Meanwhile, members of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia say they fear for the life of Adlan Shamsadov, the head of the LDPR Branch in Chechnya.
Yesterday, on October 27, it was reported that members of the Chechen regional LDPR branch called unacceptable the proposals made by Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Besides, they announced their withdrawal from the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia and the termination of the activities of the LDPR in the territory of the ChechenRepublic.
Officials from the central office of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia did not confirm the information about the termination of the Chechen LDPR branch. MP Alexei Didenko, a member of the Supreme Council of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia, states that the members of the LDPR have serious reasons to believe that their fellow party member is in a dangerous situation and that he has made a statement about the voluntary dissolution of the regional LDPR branch under threat of bodily harm and, may be, even under threat of loss of life.
