In Baku, at trial of theologian Talekh Bagirzade, court dismisses all defence motions
On October 28, the Sabunchu District Court of Baku started hearings on the case against theologian Talekh Bagirzade accused of illegal possession of drugs.
At the trial, the defence has filed a number of motions; however, all of them were dismissed by the Court. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Djavad Djavadly, an advocate of Talekh Bagirzade.
The first motion was to release Talekh Bagirzade from iron cell and allow him sitting next to the advocate. The second motion was to allow journalists and believers to the courtroom and to conduct a truly open trial. The third motion was to conduct the trial in a more spacious room.
"During the break, I have talked to Talekh, and we decided that in case if our motions are dismissed, we will challenge the judge. And we did that. Meanwhile, our challenge has not been accepted," Djavad Djavadly has stated.
The advocate has also paraphrased the speech of Talekh Bagirzade, who stated that only people can judge him. The theologian has also noted that in the yard of the court, he had seen the persons, who tortured him at the police station. Talekh Bagirzade has demanded to punish persons who torture defendants and falsify criminal cases.
