Trial in case of Anna Politkovskaya's murder postponed again

Today, the Moscow City Court (MCC) has for the seventh time postponed the consideration of the case on the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta", in connection with the quarantine at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 4, where defendant Sergey Khadjikurbanov is kept.

The today's court session has begun after a 1.5-hour delay and lasted for five minutes. In the presence of the jury, Judge Pavel Melekhin has announced the participants of the trial and relatives of the defendants that the court hearing will be continued on November 7, at 10:30 Moscow time.

The judge, who chaired the court session, has also noted that Sergey Khadjikurbanov will be transferred to another SIZO; however, the Judge did not disclose any details.

The court session was attended by Prosecutors Maria Semenenko and Boris Loktionov. Victims Ilya Politkovsky and Vera Politkovskaya and their representatives Karina Moskalenko and Anna Stavitskaya did not attend the court session.

Today, Maria Semenenko has made the statement that the public prosecutors have some information that will be announced in the presence of Sergey Khadjikurbanov.
